A Peace Forum has taken place in Lawra, Upper West Region.
The event which took place at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall on Friday, July 30, brought together some chiefs, queen mothers, imams, priests, security agencies, assembly members, women groups, youth leaders, and opinion leaders.
It was on the theme: “Peaceful coexistence among the people of Lawra Municipality; the role of stakeholders.”
They discussed extensively ways of curbing violence and keeping peace in their communities.
A speech on the theme by Rev. Fr. Aloysius Nuolabong, Director of Inter-religious Dialogue of the Wa Catholic Diocese, was read on his behalf by Rev. Fr. Solomon Kabreyang, Youth Chaplain of Wa Catholic Diocese. He called on all to eschew violence and make personal commitments in ensuring they coexist harmoniously in their communities.
The forum was chaired by the Chief of Eremon, Naa Volkur Nyuor Tang IV, and forms part of activities being carried out under the Sahel Peace Initiative (SPI) project of the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) with SELL Programme Ghana as partners in its implementation.
